Set your students up for success with the Go Direct Fluorescence/UV-VIS Spectrophotometer. Geared toward upper-level chemistry, this innovative device combines the functionality of a fluorometer with the power of a UV/VIS spectrophotometer. The Go Direct Fluorescence/UV-VIS Spectrophotometer allows students to conduct fluorescence data collection back-to-back with absorbance data collection in a single instrument. This supports quantum yield studies, quenching investigations, kinetics, Beer’s law, and simple fluorescence detection with samples such as quinine sulfate, DAPI, GFP, and tryptophan. Excitation LEDs included are 375 nm, 450 nm, and 525 nm—other wavelengths can be purchased separately. Inquire about custom wavelengths. To conduct emission spectra experiments, simply attach the Vernier Spectrophotometer Optical Fiber.
Additionally, the Go Direct Fluorescence/UV-VIS Spectrophotometer connects directly to a tablet, computer, or LabQuest®, offering students the flexibility to work with many technologies used in chemistry labs. Data can be collected and analyzed using our LabQuest 2, LabQuest 3, Logger Pro® software, or free Vernier Spectral Analysis® software, which allows users to spend less time learning different interfaces and more time in the laboratory.

A Guided Inquiry Approach to Understanding Fluorescence Spectroscopy
For use with the Fluorescence/UV-VIS Spectrophotometer, this filter acts as an excitation source to cause the sample to fluoresce. Because the excitation source is an exchangeable LED, not only do you get the standard functionality of a spectrofluorometer but software controls allow students to determine the LED intensity and explore fluorescence as a function of excitation.
